(Late) Pandit Prabhakar Dasakkar of Nashik was a revered Petti (Harmonium) player and Bhajan singer whose life is a radiant blend of music, devotion, and steady spiritual progress. Known for his heartfelt love for God and his natural affinity for the company of Saints, he had always welcomed holy persons into his home simply to experience the joy and upliftment of satsang. This inclination toward Saintly association had shaped his spiritual path from an early age.

As a devoted disciple of P. P. Rojekar Maharaj, Pandit Dasakkar practiced the sadhana given by his Guru with exceptional rigour and sincerity. His deep dedication made him very close to his Guru, and this bond continues to inspire his spiritual journey even today. At 92, he still maintained a disciplined practice of chanting, stotra recitation, and devotion, proof of his unwavering commitment to the spiritual path.

One of Pandit Dasakkar’s most admired qualities was his extraordinary patience. Whether a student arrived with a trained voice or struggles to sing a single note, he teaches with endless calm and compassion. For him, a student’s difficulty was never a flaw. It was an opportunity to refine his own teaching. His gentle approach and complete absence of anger had made him a beloved mentor to many. “If the person in front does not understand,” he said, “there must be some shortcoming in my teaching.”

Stories shared by the Dasakkar family highlight the many virtues that had blossomed in him over the years, humility, surrender, thoughtfulness, tolerance, and deep devotion to the Guru. As he immersed himself more and more in music, these qualities strengthened naturally, turning his musical practice into a profound inner spiritual pursuit.

Through this lifelong integration of devotion and music, Pandit Dasakkar had reached the 61% spiritual level, marking significant spiritual progress. His journey continues to inspire seekers, showing how music, when lived with purity and dedication, becomes a powerful path toward God-realisation.
