Padma Shri Mrs Shovana Narayan is one of India’s most distinguished Kathak dancers. She has built a remarkable dual career, excelling both as a performer and as an officer in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department. Mrs Narayan received her Kathak training at the Kathak Kendra, Delhi, under the legendary guidance of Pandit Birju Maharaj and Pandit Kundanlal Gangani. Her contributions to Indian classical dance have been widely recognized through a host of national and international honors, including the Padma Shri, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Samman, among others.

When MAV visited her, Mrs Shovana Narayan shared her profound spiritual experiences and offered thoughtful insights on integrating spiritual practice with artistic expression. She also emphasized the deep spiritual foundation and rich spiritual heritage inherent in the Kathak art form. Mrs Shovana Narayan also presented her self-authored book to MAV.
