Swarchandrika Padma Shri Mrs Padmaja Phenany Joglekar is a distinguished Indian classical vocalist whose musical journey reflects depth, discipline and refined artistry. A devoted disciple of the legendary Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj, she has also received rigorous training under Padma Shri Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and the eminent sarangi maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Ram Narayan. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian music, she was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2001.
Mrs Phenany Jogalekar shared that for her, music itself is spiritual practice and sur (swara or notes) is her Supreme Being. She expressed that while performing with an ensemble as a form of spiritual practice, she feels as though all the musicians are gathering flowers in the form of notes and offering them to God. She also shared her Divine experiences she had when singing.
