Shri Pradeep Chitnis of Thane is a gifted classical singer whose journey beautifully blends musical excellence with sincere spiritual growth. Recognised as having attained the spiritual level of 61%, he is known not only for his artistry but also for his humility, low ego, learning mindset, effortless nature, deep interest in musical inquiry and unwavering devotion to Shri Gajanan Maharaj.
Shri Chitnis often shares that his life took a profound turn after coming into contact with Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalaya (MAV). Through the grace of Paratpar Guru Dr Jayant Athavale, music transformed from a profession into a spiritual calling. He recounts a pivotal moment at MAV when, after singing a rāga, he had the divine darshan of his beloved Shri Gajanan Maharaj of Shegaon—an experience he describes as life-changing and unprecedented.
Guided by his Guru’s teaching that music should be practiced for God-realization, Shri Chitnis experienced a significant shift in purpose.
He explains:
“Before joining the University, I used to think, ‘I want to become famous.’ But at the research center, I saw that my singing was spiritually benefiting seekers. I began to meditate while singing. Paratpar Guru Dr. Athavale made me firm on the path of ‘Music for God’. ‘Music for God’ is a much higher goal than music for position, money, or prestige.”
Today, Shri Pradeep Chitnis continues to inspire listeners and seekers alike, demonstrating how music infused with devotion and spiritual intention can uplift, heal, and guide. His journey stands as a testament to how an artist’s inner transformation can transform the very impact of their art.
